LEZEN TYPEFACE
Lezen: this type family refers to the graphic and type designer Jurriaan Schrofer (1926-1990). Contemporary of the New alphabet’s designer Wim Crouwel (1929-2019), Schrofer considers the text as a real malleable and sculptural material. Having worked a lot on the idea of typographical variations, we wanted to pay tribute to one of his work, released in 1971: “Wie dit leest is gek” (Whoever read this is crazy). By creating a typeface with multiple contours, and infinite possibilities of composition, it opens a territory of typographical experimentation large enough to respond to the different titration scales. Moreover, Lezen is an ideal typography in its capacity to be translated in 3D, as the free and multidimensional work of Jurrian Schrofer. Lezen it’s more than 400 glyphs per style, 44 styles with four stylistic sets which change the font aspect and the complexity of the geometric shapes. The variety of the letter shapes allows you to find more singularities between legibility and sculptural complexity. Play with layers (Floor, City, Glow Optical) by superposing them with colors to create multiple combinations to experiment with.
